Transferring to UCLA after being dismissed??

I finished one year at UC Davis and I really did not enjoy the time I was there. I was so fed up with being discriminated on a daily basis while struggling with grades and depression at the same time. I was dismissed due to grades, but I have attended summer school so I might qualify to come back or maybe not. But I really just want to leave. I'm going to a CC that has TAP with UCLA. UCLA has been my dream school for as long as I could remember. And they also have a strong business program, which is what I'm going to pursue. Davis does not have a true business major, closest they have is managerial economics. So my question really is, if I attend CC, get good grades, and meet all the requirements with TAP would that get me the benefit of the doubt despite my grades at UCD??

Well UCLA does not have a true business major where you will receive a Bus admin B.A. but they have Business econ which is similar to managerial econ. UCLA does have a minor in accounting though. Just make sure that you stay under 80 units at your CC because if you go over you will not be able to transfer to UCLA. This is only because students who have taken classes at a four year school can not transfer to UCLA with over 80 total units. UC's are always harder on students that have attended a four year institution previously so just explain why you had such a problem at Davis. the TAP will definitely help but make sure you raise your GPA because Bus econ is very competitive.

thanks, that helped me out a bit! But I was wondering if SAT scores still matter when transferring? Would it increase my chances if I retake the SAT and get a significantly higher score?

I might take summer session at a U.C. before I transfer, and if I do well, would it make much of an impact on their doubts about my previous performance??

Do not worry about SAT's they will have absolutely no impact on your admissions because UC's do not even check SAT's for CC transfers. I would not take another summer course at a UC and just go straight to a California Community College. How many units do you have? (semester units)

Actually I am going to CC right away, but I was just trying to rectify the problem of my poor performance at UCD. and I thought that maybe taking a summer session at a UC while doing well at CC would help prove that I am indeed ready. But is there someway that my grades at UCD can be completely ignored or wiped clean?? I really want to start from scratch.

AHHH NOT TRUE. I have 48 units from UCD, and 154 total including two years at a CCC.

They cut me down to 105--I keep units/grades from UCD, and they take off 49 credits from my CC. I get credit for the classes, but not against the unit cap.

Is the 80 unit policy just for CAL if you have gone to a four year? (semester units)
