Question: When UC's consider an applicant's "GPA," does that GPA reflect all the UC-transferable courses the student has taken at CC? Or does that reflect only the student's major GPA?
| Depends on your major at certain UC's they take your major gpa into consideration too. But all UC's and majors consider your UC transferable gpa.
Example UCLA Biz econ considers both your pre-req gpa and your UC transferable gpa.

Question: Does it help to be "in progress" of attaining an Associate's degree? I will be getting one by the spring term before I transfer out.
| I don't think anyone has been able to tell if attaining a AA/AS helps. Most people transfer can attain one pretty easy as Igetc covers most CCC gen ed. I will be grabbing one in Math and Science.

Question: How does it look if a person has a lot of units? I understand that some people jump around and change majors and whatnot, but in my case, I am a biochemistry major and I am taking extra classes (like Speech, Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology) that aren't listed on Assist.org. I already have over 60 UC-transferable semester units. I am applying this fall for the next fall of 2010. I believe I will have 100+ semester units by the end of the next spring term.
| As long as they are all CCC units its perfectly fine and since your a science major they will understand.

Question: UCs require all transfers to complete two English composition classes. Would my AP score satisfy one of those courses? If so, how do I confirm I completed the second English requirement... I took a writing class my first quarter... would this satisfy the second english requirement (BTW, UC to UC transfer).

I am a California resident (and went to high school in CA) but i attend Holy Cross College in Indiana. It is a very small four year university and is almost like a cc. This school is known to be the feeder into Notre Dame. Transfering to ND was my plan but now I want to come back home and try to get into UC Davis. (or UCI/UCSB)
Here are my stats:
hs gpa: 3.6
a few extra curriculars in hs
SAT:2100
College GPA: 3.7
one college club
took one class at a california cc and got a B
I also researched and found out that the admittance rate of out of state applicants to ucla and uc berk was about only a 10% chance. However at UC Davis the average gpa of a transfer student (in and out of state) is 3.16-3.7.
I know that the priority goes to CA cc, CSU, other UC's, out of state CC, and then finally to out of state universities, so what are my chances of getting into UC Davis???
is my better bet to transfer to CSU or a private??

How many units do you get for competing an AP class in high school in a semester-based college (Ohlone) and a quarter based college (De Anza)?
I've taken 2 APs last year(4 on both exams), and I'm taking 3 now (expecting to get 4s on all three). I've completed a General Psychology class this summer at Ohlone (3 semester units), and plan on taking Finite Mathematics (4 semester units) and Intro to Computer Programming using C++ (also 4) next spring/summer. About how many units does this put me at? Enough to transfer from a cc to a UC after one year?
Also, using Assist.org, Intro to Computer Programming using C++ is listed under "UC Transferable Courses" but not "UC Transfer Admissions Courses". What does that mean?

u dont transfer the units cc gives u for ap's but rather transfer the units the uc system gives u which can be found at University of California - Counselors -those r quarter units btw, just divide by 1.5 and round to the nearest tenth to get semester units

Sorry, this was mentioned in the first few posts but I need a clarification. So the FALL before getting admitted is the last chance to boost up your GPA basically? And in Spring all you need to do is pass?

you know the maximum units you can transfer over from a CC to a UC? it's like 90 semester units or something, right? my questions are:
Can you be selective of which units you transfer over to the UC?
Does the college credit you get from your AP Scores contribute to the unit cap?
j/w b/c i will exceed the unit cap by spring 2010.
thanks, in advance!

thanks, in advance! | Only up to 70 semester units transfer, however every transferable class transfers.
For example, if you took Example 1A and are going to take Example 1B after you have 70 units, when you transfer you will get unit credit for Example 1A, 0 credit for Example 1B, but you will be allowed to take Example 1C because you've completed the prerequisite.
AP + Community College Classes = 70 Semester unit max cap

i've heard some weird stuff about the ap units applying to the max cap...basically ap units can be used to meet the minimum units needed to transfer, but that they can also be excluded from any max unit cap...which seems to make little sense to me, but it's wat i've heard a few times now...

hey, I'm still confused about one thing...
I was a foreign exchange student my last semester of senior year and like all LAUSD schools, my high school here has the slowest counselors in the world. They still haven't transferred my units from my foreign school into my record, so I haven't graduated officially yet. I'm "pending" for them to get their lazy butts to process my graduation, and it's been two months. I'm really starting to doubt that it will be processed by the time I apply this month (yes I've already been to the school to bug them several times). Should I mention this on my "extra info" UC statement, or would it seem like whining? Do you have to have your HS graduation processed by the time you apply, or by the following spring? Please let me know, I'm SO worried about this! thanks
