I'm sixteen and I'm going to transfer in Junior status to UCLA
| Me too, except I'll be a senior in the fall, (105 CCC units + 16 APs + 17 units this summer at ucla = 138. 135+ is considered senior) and will graduate at 17 years old with my Bachelors.

which UCs are the best/most worth going to? (top 5)
And to what extent do my chances decrease if I apply to like UCLA after 1 year in another university, out of state, with a high GPA?
Also, if I choose to attend a ccc, complete all pre-reqs in one year, 1. as an international student are my chances lower? 2. If the UC I applied to accepts me, do I have to go as a freshman or am I sophomore?

First, if you are full pay, UC will love you bcos you will pay OOS fees.
Second, not all campuses accept Soph transfers. (I believe that Cal and UCLA do not.) But, if you can complete the required number of units (90 quarter or 60 semester) in one year -- it can be done with summer school and AP/IB credits -- you can apply as a Junior transfer.
Third, as an international, Cal offers the best prestige bang for your buck. UCLA would be second. I would discourage you from paying OOS fees to attend any of the others. For the same money, a private college offers a lot more perqs.

Yeah, if you want to transfer after two years, apply in the fall of your second year (assuming you are looking to be a traditinal fall admit). Admisions will come out in the spring of your second year, and you would attend the UC in fall of your third year. University of California - Admissions |

I know on the first page that people said that Fall grades are taken into consideration when applying but does that still apply? (Since those replies were from 3 years ago)
If yes, if most of the classes for this upcoming Fall semester are pre-reqs for my major, will it count because someone told me that it won't?
Thank you in advance!

idkwhat: Yes. Every year that's still the case. Fall grades play the biggest part when it comes to admissions since it's the last semester they'll see on your application when they evaluate it. You'll still turn in your spring grades, but if you get C's or higher, it won't matter (contracts vary though).
Adcoms see applications after the fall update. Taking prereqs in the fall won't hurt you as long as you get good grades in them.

This is so helpful!
Oh and I was wondering, do UCs look at your cumulative GPA or individual semesters? I dropped down to 2.67 for a summer semester and that's too low for the 2.9 TAG. I have improved and am hopeful by the end of this semester I'll have a 3.4-3.6. This will bring my cumulative up to the minimum and so will the other semesters I have. (3 more) I don't want to be disqualified already lol.
Thanks!

wait, do you really need 100+ units to have a chance at most of the majors for UCLA??
Community college was my backup plan and I missed out on registering for a lot of classes for fall semester. The only classes I am taking right now are anthropology and intermediate Algebra. There is no way I can do that much in two years.

Those are quarter units. 90 are required to transfer (60 semester units). Some majors will have a lot of prereqs so they go over that.

Shaqfor3: Two years is definitely enough to hit 60 or more units even if you only took two classes for fall. Happened to me as well, I only had 6 units after my first semester. I took summer classes and left CC with 95.

thats good to hear
though I am not sure if it will take longer than that since I plan on majoring in chemical engineering. I heard engineering wants more units or something.
oh and by chance does anyone know if following IGETC is important for engineering majors when transferring to UCLA or Berkeley?

I'm doing also engineering, and 2 years is definitely doable. As for IGETC, UCLA HSSEAS does not accept nor recommend it. You will still have to take a GE class or two over there once you transfer like the ethics one. Just prioritize your major prereqs.
