The GPA is still average of whatever transferable courses you take right?

It's more like four year units + community college units. Whatever the cap is applies to your four year units. At UCLA, I was over, from a combination of four year and CC, so they cut off "CC units" as it were--not that it will matter to you--to get me to 105. In other words, I ended up with ~45 four year units (one year there) and 60 CC units (two years there, dropped from 80? or something), however, I still get credit for all of those classes.

This is a GOOD THING. Without it, the unit cap would be a huge problem. But basically, if you only went to a CC, you have nothing to worry about. It's meant to prevent juniors and up at four years from transferring in (or so I guess).

If the university asks for your high school transcript, yes.

When does the Fall 2009 Application come out?

I'm applying this coming fall. When will the application come out? I would like to finish my essays before the schoolyear starts...

Does anyone know whether last year's essay topics are the same as this years?

I would like one of my essays to explain "why I would like to transfer to that certain UC." Is it possible to do so through Prompt #2?

I doubt it. Don't put all your hope in one school either. Having a dream school is one thing, but all the schools you apply to will see this and UCI won't be thrilled by an essay about Cal (or whatever). Stick to the prompts the best you can.

Sorry, actually, what I meant was whether it's possible for me to address my reasons for transferring in the 2nd prompt. (i.e current school I am attending does not have my major)

I'm REALLY worried after reading this thread:

I'm coming from a university with a 2 years worth of units, and to my estimation its about 60 transferrable quarter units. And right now i'm attending Community college. And since i'm a Bus Econ major(if I get into UCLA)/ econ( other UCs) my prereqs at cc adds to about 20 quarter units . So if you add that up thats about 65 quarter units( CC and university) . I haven't taken any upper division courses ,but if I follow the IGETC I’m going to be going over the unit cap and be considered in senior standing. That way I might be automatically rejected. What should I do? My heart is set on Berkeley and UCLA, but it seems like Berkeley only accepts IGETC partcipants. HELP!
