Hi,

I'm currently a freshman at California State University, Northridge. I've always wanted to go to a UC school, but because of certain circumstances, I had to attend CSUN. I entered CSUN with 24 credits to my name, 6 coming from two summer courses I had taken at a CC during my high school years, and the rest were calculated in because of my English Composition, English Literature, and American History AP tests, in which I recieved 4's in. I am currently enrolled for 14 units this semester. I would like to know my chances in getting into a UC school my junior year, especially since I opted to attend a Cal State rather than a CC for my first two years. Would my AP scores matter anymore, or rather, would I have to take Freshman English classes if I were to transfer to a UC (I was exempt at CSUN.)? Would it be possible for me to transfer in less than two years if I gained 60 credits before then?

Also, would it help if I were to go to a community college for my last semester as a sophomore? Would I count as a CC student then, and therefore, would my priority heighten?

I think it would help if you went to a CC college next semester, not the last semester next year. I'm not exactly sure about this though.

You can still transfer into other UCs from CSUN. It depends on the UC you want to transfer to though.

To get more responses for your second question regarding CC status, ask it in a separately titled thread.

If you want to go to Cal then you should get very good grades at CSUN this semester and switch to CC next semester. It's just the way the system is set up. CCs are designed to prepare students for four year colleges (UC and CSU). It'll be much much harder to transfer from CSU to Cal.
