i was just thinking is it like a committee of ten who reads your essays and everything.
and then if 4/10 of them or some ratio says your good to go then you get admitted.
does anyone know how it works?

I think two people read an application independently, and then assign a score (not exactly sure if it's quantitative or qualitative). And, if the score differs by a given margin, it is reviewed by a senior admissions staff member whose decision supersedes the prevailing.

This is what I gathered from the UCB admissions process report they issued a while back for freshman admissions. I am not entirely sure if this is how it is done for transfer admissions, or other campuses for that matter.

I'm just wondering if they ever feel bad that their going to finalize a students academic future by either accepting or denying them.

I only say this because I'm just really worried.

If they employ a dialectic process in their decisions they have no reason to 'feel bad.'

for my own sake i hope they are generic. cold hard facts please! and then I guess I won't take it personally if I am rejected either. bc I tried my best. eww, this makes me feel nauseous.

When I went on a Berkeley TAP trip the Berkeley representatives said that two people will review the application and if they do not agree that the applicant should be accepted or rejected it is given to a superior who then makes the final decisions on the acceptance of the applicant.

eeek. Wow, just two people. lol reminds me of how the AP exams are scored although i think my teacher back in high school said 3. -_-
