CSU and CC, then UC? Transfer chances~ Please Help!

Can you guys please help me evaluate my chances as a transfer student. I graduated from a California HS in 06, then I went to SDSU for two semesters under the major Political Science. For the first two semesters, my GPA came out to be a 3.34. For many reasons, I decided to first take a semester stomp-out this past semester and move home for Fall 07. I am officially on a leave of absence now for this next semester; Spring 08. I have been going to Cuesta Community College and this past application period I applied to 5 CA schools as a transfer student. I am still technically an SDSU student and I can always return if I don’t get into any of the schools I applied to, however I really do not want to go back to SDSU. I Applied to:

UC Berkeley- Political Science ( my dream school, I just thought I would try)
UC Irvine- Political Science
UC Santa Barbara- Political Science with Emphasis on Public Service
UC Davis- Political Science with Emphasis on Public Service
Cal Poly- Political Science

My transfer GPA was 3.34 and my grade updates to the UC’s had three B’s and two A’s. My parents are Mexican immigrants and I am the first generation to go to college. I have also held many types of jobs throughout HS and college.

Transfer Essay: I explained how my participation at my community’s local outreach program had changed me to understand that we need to help people, and that I need a stellar education to help set the foundation for me to achieve that in the future.

What do you guys think? What are my chances?

Academic counselors

Hi centralcost,

Since you seem to be currently attending Cuesta, why don't you go see one of their academic counselors? They have walk-in appointments available at both the San Luis and North County campuses. You might as well use them--that's what they're paid for, and they probably know the answer better than anyone else!

Do you have more units form CC or SDSU? if it is SDSU then you would be considered a transfer from a CSU- which gives you lower priority.

34 Units from CC and 29 from SDSU, and that's a good idea about the counselors at cuesta, i will probably do that
