Apply or Transfer?

Hello, I'm an International student @ Los Rios Community Disticit Community College.

I major in Biology and trying to go either UC Berkely or UC Davis.

Here's my question:
Do I have to finish all the requirements from assist.org
or I can just apply for them?

I don't want to stay in CC untill 2009 or 2010.

I just want to go to 4-year-college, you know?

Thank you,
coffeewithmuffin

You're going to have to elaborate on this question a bit more before we can answer. Specifically, what do you mean by "apply for them".

Just apply for it without the transferrable units, then I take the classes over there.

No, you cannot do that. You must have 60 units by the time you enter the UC, and I would strongly recommend you complete the IGETC and your major prereqs.

Edit: Whoops, overlapped with Ektaylor. (;

Alright, I understand. (;

Somebody will be able to give more specific comments on the biology major, I'm sure, but I can answer your question in general. If you apply for transfer with less than 60 units, you'll be strictly an international sophomore level applicant, and you'll almost certainly be denied. You have to have 60 units following the spring prior to transfer in order to be considered seriously.

Now, you can get those 60 units and _not_ finish all of your prereqs, but again, that will put you at a disadvantage. You can weigh that against GPA, etc. Now, if you want to get into Berkeley you'll need every advantage you can get because as a non-resident you won't get the same priority that California resident California Community College students get.

Hope this helps,
Joe

Are you serious?
I'm a Biology major, should I just transfer to Davis?

My college counselors aren't helpful. They keeps saying go to "assist.org".
I'm still researching though.

pre req for bio major is all Bio courses, all Calc, all Chem and something else. im not sure. what hv u done with ur 33ish unit?I cannot apply for Fall 2008 anymore ( Berkley and Davis don't offer spring admission). so if you want to go there, u have to apply for Fall 2009 admission. That is only chance and only way. thus, u have a bunch of time to do all the pre-req

They do, but the deadlines for applying for Fall 2008 passed for all UCs November 30th, 2007.

I'm not saying you can't get into Berkeley, just that as an international you should plan on jumping through every hoop if you want to get into Berkeley. It's doable, you just want every advantage.
