FAFSA Help!?

Well, todays the last day, and I just realized that I don't have my W2 forms. That sucks! Did this happen to anyone else? Is there any way to get past this problem? I don't even know what a W2 form is. Oh I'm so screwed.

Did you work last year? A W2 form is a statement of your taxes and earnings for the year. Your employer should have sent you one. If you lost it or didn't get it for some reason, they should be able to send you a new one. Unfortunately, this would probably cause you to miss the fafsa deadline.

However, you will still be eligible for aid after the deadline-- you will just lose some priority and possibly your cal grant. Get your stuff together asap so you can still get something.

Also, if you made so little that you are not required to file taxes, you can just put "will not file" into the fafsa.

dbguy - you need to be aware of the FAFSA deadline for your school. If you check the deadline on FAFSA.ed.gov it is actually June 30th 2009 because 2008-2009 school year includes the summer session in 2009 and students can apply up till June before the summer session. That is not the deadline you want to meet for fall 2008. Check your school's deadline.

Yes I worked last year. But I didn't make that much. I made about $250 in 2007 and $82.5 in 2008. So do I still have to pay taxes?

If you had any taxes deducted file to get a refund. Otherwise you probably do not need to.

If you're not sure you can say will or will not file and correct later.

You might want to double check this but I think that you can just put estimates right now and then when you get your W2 you can update the FAFSA.

File that fafsa asap!! You can make corrections to it later, but you need to get that in today or you risk losing out on some serious aid.
