Transfer vs. right out from HS

Why is it that if Transfer students get priority to the UCs compared to seniors coming straight out from high school that they are first to get the acceptances?

Correct me if I'm wrong but Seniors get their acceptance letters back from UCD, UCSD and UCLA March 1 - April 1 and transfer students get them back mid March - mid April.

You're wrong.

Transfer decisions are posted March 1 - May 1; generally one month after freshmen applicants.

UCLA/UCB are the latest at the end of April into early May.

This is not true to begin with. The admissions process for incoming freshman is handled separately from transfers. One does not have "priority" over another.

the community college transfer priority is about priority over transfers from other colleges. transfer students do not compete with incoming freshman.

why not jsut apply anyways out of HS? the only reason i'd do CC first is bc of financial limitations or just not getting in as a freshman.

Transfer students are typically notified at a later date than freshman applicants because the application review process is a more lengthy process. For transfer students we must check course transferability, eligibility, units and major preparation to list a few. As mentioned in above posts, freshman applicants are not given priority over transfer applicants; the freshman process can be completed more quickly than the transfer process.

some people want to have time to "find" their true path in life. I personally think that if you ever contemplating medicine or engineering, you shouldn't waste your time by being an undeclared.

CC's are great because the students, if unsure about their academic future, can decide what their major is while not having the major, harsh pressures of a 4 year institution.
