How should I handle this?

Ok, I just got denied admission from UCSB b/c they say I have too many units, and have attained senior standing. (when converted to quarter units, they say I have 136.5 but can only have 134.9).

Well, I dont want to go there anyway, but I do want to go to UCSD.
I am currently at a CCC (did attend a 4-year though) and one class I took at my ccc was an overlap of one taken at the 4-year, so it is excluded from both my gpa and my total # of units, however I forgot to mention that on my application. My question is, should I contact UCSD ASAP and get them a copy of my transcripts and bring this to their attention, or wait to see my decision, and then appeal if I get denied?

Any opinions are highly appreciated, thanks.

I would talk to them as soon as possible. I figure there's no advantage to trying to fix it later

Just FYI: Here's the two institution's policies on senior standing:

Quote:
UCSD
UC San Diego considers a student with more than 90 transferable semester units (135 quarter units) from the combination of a two-year and a four-year institution to be in senior standing. UCSD sets a 90 semester unit limit when a student has attended both a two-year and a four-year institution. UCSD will transfer a maximum of 70 semester units from a community college; the admissions staff looks for those students who have accumulated 90 or fewer semester units.

UCSB
The College of Letters and Science does not accept applications from students who have earned 135 or more transferable quarter (90 or more semester) units from a combination of two-year and four-year institutions.
I would call up the admissions office, explain that you were rejected from another UC on the basis of having 136.5 quarter units, even though it's clear that less than 135 of those will be "transferable" due to overlap, and then ask them how to proceed.

Hey thanks for the replies.
Im going to call them tomorrow, first thing in the AM and see what I should do. Ill probably end up driving some unofficial transcripts down right away, I would guess.

Do you mind if I ask what four year university you went to?

So I called UCSD, and was told to use the "contact us" link on myapplication, so I did, and explained everything in good detal. I also asked if they could contact me to confirm that they received that information, but I have not heard anything and it has been a few days...

Should I be worried?

I wouldn't be worried. If they judge you to be a senior when you're obviously not--by their standards--then you have a legitimate basis for appeal.

Yup (10 chars)

I usually hang around here, CC's UC Irvine board, and AEF when it comes to university related things.

Well, I just called and asked if they had received my info, and they said they are a week behind on emails right now. I really hope they don't make my decision before they get my email. I'm tripping out right now, before I couldn't wait for my decision, and now I want them to lag on it.
Anyone think I should call again and tell them how important the info is and see if I can do something about this?
