I'm part of the next Generation Transfers for the 09 series. I have my sights set on UCLA but If i fall short what is the next contender for Biz econ in California. also is Tap worth packing up and moving 80 miles away to finish up the remainder of my CC.


Also this Community college has a program where they pay for you to go to Ucla for one week, to take classes to see how everything works, anyone ever hear of that? (mind you a counselor told me this )



Ps. has anyone been watching UCLA bball team, another reason i want to go.

bump no love for the new guys, ps congrats to all that got accepted to Irvine and San Diego recently. I see a lot of Econ majors got around 3.7 and up that got accepted.

I got a C in spanish my 1st year, will that nullify my chances to getting in, One C for a 5 unit class and a few B's = like 3.5-3.6 seems like I'm screwed

If you are REALLY set on going to UCLA, I would say it'd be worth it for you to pursue TAP at that other CC. In the UC Decisions thread from last year, someone reported getting into UCLA as busecon major with a 3.5ish w/ TAP. Obviously that doesn't guarantee much for future applicants, but it's a good measurement of the effectiveness of TAP. With TAP, I wouldn't worry too much about one C.

With all that said, try bringing your GPA up this year so that you'll be a more competitive candidate. Also, shoot for high grades in your major prerequisites.

I haven't heard of it, but it seems like a legitimate program to list as an E.C. or something similar. And getting paid is always nice

Ya dude, I got a Girlfriend Here, But I have my heart set on Education right now and my future, So I would be leaving everything behind just to better my Chance for Ucla.

Besides that UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbra Great, par, Sub-par, Bad Biz econ schools.

80 miles is still totally commutable over weekends and whatnot, so you'd still be able to see your GF. yeah, it's not the same, but like you said, you have your heart set on Education.

Leaving everything behind isn't completely a bad thing though. If you're the kind of person who can stand on his own two feet, you'll grow exponentially from the move. Also, to put a positive spin on the situation: you'd have a lot less distractions from your academic life.

One of the main reasons I commute to De Anza / Foothill is because I didn't want to go to "13th grade" at my local CC. One of the best decisions I've made yet.

How's your financial situation? Could you easily afford this move?

"My family is at poverty level less than 15k a year, Fin aid & Schools will love cases like myself. One Deceased Parent, Other Disabled, Mentally Handicapped Sister, I was less than a 1.5 GPA student In High school, I've been without a home for a while, Didn't get presents at Xmas a few times because Bills needed to be paid (harsh times) and now I have my own job, My own Car, and over a 3.5 in CCC finally things are looking up for me. Maybe that right there might even be a good essay who knows.


For the people that are a little more fortunate than I, Getting a Job and saving money every now and then, Loans will honestly hurt your $$$ flow for a few years after college. But I assume most of you are planning on living/working for a Long time. so 2-4 years not making any money after college is nothing compared to the long run. Loans/Grants/Scholarships/."

( I Think I've Exponentially Grown since I was 10, either way to answer your question Yes I'm a Person that is able to stand on my own two feet.)

I would Have to Work and Most likely on the weekends so Driving 80 miles isn't always an Option. As far as paying: Work/pell grant/ BOG wavier/ & Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants
