| need advice from transfer students
I'm going to be a freshmen at UCI this next year but i am planning on transfering to SD, B, or LA in 2 years. I was reading the threads here and it seems like a lot of you guys are getting accepted so i was just wondering if you guys could give me any advice so i could have a better chance of being accepted. Like what was your course load like? Is there anything you would've changed? and do we really need to finish all our major's prereqs in the first 2 years? Also, i was considering the study abroad program..does that look good on an application? |

| Enroll in an honors program; contribute to the academic vitality of the campus i.e get involved on campus; Stay at or above a 3.5
Just remember UC to UC is fairly difficult, so you're going to have to earn the transfer. | |

| make sure you're ready for the worst 1 1/2 years of your life going to CC. Don't believe that bs of it's what you make of it, CC totally sucks, crappy campus, depressing atmosphere, hard to make friends. It'll all be worth it after you get that first acceptance around early spring.
i put in like 2 hours of effort per week for hw and i got a 3.6 - 3.7 EASILY. | |

| If you want advice on bettering your chances of being accepted, consider attending a CC.
CC to UC transfer students easily have the highest rate of acceptance over any other group.
Here is the breakdown from Fall 06. Stats taken from page 6 at http://www.universityofcalifornia.ed...erials/A4T.pdf
Berkeley
CCC: 32.1%
Four year college/other: 13.6%
UCLA
CCC: 44.8%
Four year/other: 19.5%
UCSD
CCC: 67.3%
Four year/other: 25.2%
These stats might not be as accurate as you're looking for as they include all four year transfers, and not simply UC to UC...or breaking it down further, UCI to the schools you listed. But hopefully it helps. Good luck in whatever you decide.
And for what it's worth, I had a 180 degree different experience at my CC than lilxlazyxboi talked about in the post previous to mine. | |

| Fine ill give you good information.
UCSD if you maintain over any GPA above like 3.4 you'll most certainly get in, unless your GPA is REALLY REALLY competitive.
UCLA , do the TAP (Transfer Alliance Program) that your community college SHOULD be offering.
Honestly my work load was so easy, it's so easy to complete 60 semester units in 2 years it's not even funny. I recommend taking 2x classes every summer and winter session available so you'll have a lax course load during the 16 week semesters. Ratemyprofessor.com is your best friend.
Make sure you complete IGETC, join your local honor society club.
Do all of those, stay focused, and you CANNOT fail, I think CC is much more easier than high school because I have much more time to procrastinate.

| If you actively look for easy professors on ratemyprofessor.com, then CCC will be ridiculously easy; but, if you actually value your education, I would seek out the hard profs --making lemonade out of lemons, right?
At my CCC, the courses vary drastically in difficulty depending on the professor. Of course, any input we can give in regards to our experiences will be anecdotal at best.
And, I would highly recommend opting for the CCC route over the UC to UC intercampus transfer. You may be losing 2 years of drinking games, but the money and stress saved in the process is worth it.
Also, it is absolutely imperative to complete ALL of your major prereqs for UCLA, and UCB. It is not as important for the other UC campuses, but if you do, in fact, try to transfer through UCI, then the completion of all major prereqs may be equally as important for lower tier UCs (UCSD, UCD, UCSB). | |

| I just got into UCSD, from UC Merced. I think its important to know what you will lose and gain from UC to UC tranfer, vs. CCC to UC.....most of the time you will lose social experince and gain money, it really matters whats important to you | |
