Minor after Transfer

Do any of you plan to get a minor in anything after you transfer to your UC? Will the minor play a huge role in your future career or is just there for you to pursue another interest apart from your major?

one of my friend told me a student graduated from UCLA as BizEcon major and accounting minor. He worked as a accountant or something and made good deal of money.

If this is true, I would say yes, it plays a huge role.

good thread, I was wondering about this question too. I'm a business econ major and it doesn't require that many units to complete, so filling up the minimum unit requirement with a minor sounds like a good idea.

Yeah, I heard a minor does make a difference. Especially in my case where I'd like to become an HR manager or VP; so I decided to major in Sociology, with a minor in Business (I think it's new at UCSD) or Economics, then eventually get my MBA.

Haha, my dad is pushing an econ minor on me, as well.

But, I am thinking of minoring, or possible double majoring, in philosophy -- in place of what I was initially going to minor in, Statistics, as upon further analysis a stats minor would be a bit unrealistic with my current plans -- with my current major Political Science. My motives are largely rooted in enhancing my reasoning abilities for the LSAT; but with phil, my writing skills will invariably increase as well, while stats would have increased my abstract reasoning.

Poli sci and math major/minor. Math would open doors into finance and other jobs with a quantitative focus. If I had the time/money I'd do a minor in English because i love literature. I'm sad that LA doesn't offer an art minor.

Minors will not help your job prospects, as they lack depth and breadth.
