Some quick questions about UCLA acceptance

Hey im pretty new, and all these UCLA rejections are getting me down and out.

I plan on applying for transfer this Nov. for the Fall '09 semester at UCLA

1. what exactly are pre-reqs? are they the courses you need to take for your major, and does it matter if you aren't finished by the time you apply for transfer?
2. Does it matter if the IGETC isn't finished at the time you apply? (when i apply i will be in the middle of the fall semester, and taking the very last class i need for the IGETC completion.
3. At the time I apply i will only be half way done in being TAP certified? Does this affect me at all?

+45 cool points for any advice i can get.

Halfway through tap isn't a good idea and I'm not even sure they'll certify you unless you're much closer.

Next year will be rough, so prereqs and igetc completion is a good idea for most majors.

1.yes, try to have most finished by the end of the fall sem. before transfer. in general, its okay to be finishing up one or two prereqs the spring sem. before transfer. missing prereqs if they are offered at your college = very bad
2.no, i don't think so, as long it is finished by the end of spring sem. before transfer
3.no, as long as your cc certifies that you're in the program, its okay to finish it up in the spring semester before transfer

I think prereqs were the killer this year. I had mine finished by the end of last fall.

Yes, the prereqs are the classes that you need to get into your major.

It's really easy to figure out your prerequisites for your major.

Just to to Welcome to ASSIST, plug in the school you currently attend, then plug in the school + major you'd like to transfer to. The site tells you exactly what the major's prerequisites are, and what the corresponding class is at your specific school.

Doesn't get much easier than that!
