UCSDvsUCD?Really need some help here!

okay..these are the two schools i got in...
communication major (rejected by UCLA...)
international student transfer from community college
i am thinking about UCSD cuz the out-of-state tuition is around 8000 dollars/yr less then UCD?(that's a lot to me!!)
but some say ucsd comm is theory based..not so much hands-on?
how is Davis comm dept then??
and i got into eleanor roosevolt(spelling?) college..how is it?
so confused by the six college system....

i was planning on minoring in comm at UCSD, took a class, and immediately changed my mind LOL. yeah it seems EXTREMELY theory-based. however, our comm department is supposed to be pretty damn good. i don't know anything about the comm dept at UCD. ERC's GE's are on the harder side, but nothing that's impossible. are you done with all your writing requirements? if not, you might still have to take some of the MMW (making of the modern world) classes. each of the six colleges have their own respective GE and writing requirements. MMW is one of the hardest writing requirements, along with HUM in revelle.

in terms of campus/environment, UCSD owns UCD. UCD is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. like literally nowhere. you drive down the highway and see nothing but fields, and all of a sudden UCD pops up out of nowhere. UCSD is by no means blooming with night life either, but there are at least places to go to lol

In all cases you should visit both campuses, and in this case both ends of California, to see which one you prefer. While at the campuses make an appointment with the department to get all your questions answered. For UC Davis please contact the major adviser listed at the bottom of Communication for more information regarding the communication program. I'm sure UCSD has a major adviser that you can contact as well.

actually UCD is not in a bad location. I lived there for 7 years before moving to Berkeley. It's a true college town and it's only 15 min or so from Sacramento (plenty of night life there) and about an hr from the SF/Bay Area where you can find allot to get in to. Plus the Davis community caters to students. I actually liked living and studying there more than I do here.
