UCSB Housing

For the people who's going to UCSB: What's your plan for housing (other than the guaranteed Summer Transition housing) ?

If I end up going then dorms.

UCSB guarantees transfers a dorm if you SIR before June 1st, and meet all the other deadlines.

You can also live on I.V. but if you don't know people it might be hard to find roomates...

I will be staying in Manzanita village for the fall , and Santa Ynez for summer in a 4 person 2 bedroom apartment.
For transfer students, we don't have the biggest selection of residence halls to choose from, just manzanita and san rafael. I picked Manzanita over San rafael because its newer, 4 students per bathroom, and a bigger mix of people, since they house 250 freshmen also.

maybe they have a transfer floor or building and another building for freshman. though the dorm is kind if isolated on the other side of campus, i'm assuming you submitted your housing contract already? so you think you will get manzanita?

asq113 - like calvinator said, transfers are usually in manzanita or san rafael. san rafael is supposed to be geared towards transfer-living specifically. i haven't visited housing yet so my info is only from the website.

I hope I get manzanita, i've submitted my application already so I have to wait for them to send me a contract after june 1st. As for summer, I got my housing contract the other day and I faxed them housing contract signature page to confirm it.

i'm on the bubble about taking summer, most likely session A, but the on campus housing being more expensive sucks, so you're living on off campus apartment own by the school right? and they pair you up right?
