How does the appeal process actually work?

I want to appeal to UCLA. I wrote the appeal several weeks ago. I want to send it in but I am a little worried about some things. Who actually reviews your appeal letter? Do they tell other UCs about your appeal? I want to appeal to CAL if I don't get in as well. I don't want CAL to get a notice from UCLA that I appealed and not accept my CAL appeal. Know what I mean?

I heard if you call Cal 'CAL' in the appeal letter it's an automatic reject.
