uh ohh... berkeley additional forms!???

heyyy....

sooo crap i have an issue. I was unable to log into the MyBerkeleyApplication site until really recently because it turns out they had my really old email address from back when i was a freshman and applied in 2005. soo... the current email address didn't work to log in and i had to get an activation code from an admissions officer.

I finally got into the site only to discover i didn't do the necessary "additional forms," like there was no checks by those boxes, but i did do the Work in Progress form. I decided to go into my old email address to see if i got any info about these forms and they sent a reminder to that address... i filled the forms out right away but i'm afraid it's too late. I never got any notification though and it still says my app is in review..

thoughts/ideas? I went to the office of undergrad admissions today with full documentation of the outdated email address but the lady told me that it might not get read/considered and that anything i submit now cannot be used for an appeal later. I decided to wait and use the email documentation for an appeal if i'm denied admission.

btw, the additional forms didn't apply much to me because i'm trying to transfer from UCLA (uc reciprocity for GEs, etc).

i have a 3.97 gpa (so all A's and two A-'s), all pre-reqs and GEs done, applying to Peace and conflict studies major.... what do you think?? right decision to wait it out and see, and appeal later? thanks for any input! I know it was sooo so so stupid of me not to realize i had to do those additional forms! But it was an honest mistake and if i had the reminder email in the correct address that i registered with then I would have known to do the extra forms!

thanks!

That is really tough. When you filled out the application why did you use your old email address?

It sounds like it may have been a mixup because he applied back when he was a freshman. If that's what happened, I'd hold on to at least a little hope

Use it in the appeal process, it's a very compelling reason to appeal and you have a good chance of acceptance on an appeal like that.

i read that the extra form box is never checked even after they receive the docs. that you just have to assume forms were received. the instructions also said that certain ucla courses were automatically accepted. they may put the requirement all 4 year transfers; if it is just reading and comp you may have already satisfied it. it was in my app even though my ap test should clear it.

i'm a girl but i appreciate ALL your advice. do you really think its worth the appeal??

And i decided it was so urgent i went straight to the admissions office... but they were just like--anything you submit here will not be considered in an appeal AND it's not guaranteed that someone will read it or it will be added to my file before decisions come out.

I did do ALL requirements for four year transfers and i believe that was clear in the main WIP form... it seemed like the other two forms were mostly geared toward community college transfers (ie about IGETC, etc), maybe this would add substance to an appeal..... i'm soooo upset now though. i'll let you know what becomes of my situation.

it seems crazy to discount me after all my work on the application... but bureaucracy is a *****..

oh and theDude--

I DID NOT use my old email address-- they just assumed that was mine or it was still in the system from 2004... i have record that the email I submitted was my current one. I just didn't get a reminder about those extra forms... EVER... while everyone else did

They did not ask you for your current mailing address? Well if I were you and you do not get accepted you should definitely appeal.

I never received a reminder from UCB. I knew ahead of time and marked it on my calender.

I don't know the reason for this, but I hope it helps for the appeal.

just appeal it.

I'm not sure how you did not see it because it clearly sticks out here
University of California - Admissions - The University of California offers one of the broadest ranges of study of any institution of higher learning in the world, all at an affordable price.
There is an asterisk next to Berkeley. It's pretty hard to miss that since it's directly above the Updated Transfer Application.

Don't get mad at Berkeley, I would say you are more at fault than the Berkeley e-mail processor or whatever.

You should be given an equal shot when you appeal though.
Good Luck.

Yeah. While you do have legitimate grounds for appeal, it might fall on deaf ears.
