same here............ I thought UCLA was my dream school, and Berkeley was just a bonus. Somehow, I do not know how to say NO to berkeley too...

Probably i will just rent a room myself, and start a new life up there......i know no one too=[ actually i m kind of worry.

If you don't know anybody its probably best to go for the dorms. Apartments are really hard to find in Berkeley, and if you do get lucky and find a decent one, then its going to be hard to meet people and stuff.

I am lucky and I already have an apartment in a great location (Milvia and Dwight). Went in on it early with some homies that already attend, without knowing if I was accepted or not. Whew!!!!!

Brea resident here! I'll probably drive my truck up there with the few luggage I have in the back.

Anyone else going to the Welcome reception at LA on May 10th? I think it'd be cool if we all meet up before we start school at CAL.

@joyjoybear - The welcome reception details are under the "myevents" tab for the myBerkeley application. There's one in each different area for socal, such as one in the Inland Empire, one in San Diego, and one at LA. Here's the information for the one at LA:

Directions to event
Parking will be $10.

Wednesday, May 14, 2008 (oops, I thought it was on the 10th...)
6:30 PM-8:30 PM
Radisson Hotel at LAX
6225 Century Blvd.
Los Angeles

RSVP by Tuesday, May 06, 2008

"ABOUT THIS EVENT

As a new transfer student you are faced with unique opportunities and numerous choices. This reception will present an introduction to academic support programs, and feature transfer-friendly staff and current Cal students to answer questions. Student ambassadors will speak of their own experiences with faculty-mentored undergraduate research programs, educational study abroad, career internships, volunteer community service activities and/or student leadership opportunities. Campus staff will be available from the Financial Aid Office, Career Center, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, College Advising, Residential and Student Service Programs, Academic Achievement Programs and the Transfer, Re-entry, and Student Parent Center.

If you have any additional questions, contact Yanny Chavarria at socaloffice@berkeley.edu, 909-625-7418."

@Guardiangel - Sure! I don't mind if you hitch a ride, but how much luggage are you going to bring? Also, I'm a Spring '09 transfer, so I'll only be moving in earlier if I find an internship or job around the area... Shucks.

Us So-Cal Transfers should stick together! LOL.

I'm planning to live in the Channing/Bowditch Apartments. Anyone thinking of living there?

Oh, and I have a friend who transferred to Berkeley and said it is an absolute must to live in a Transfer Dorm/Apartment sort of setting so that you'll get to meet more people.
