I got into UCLA but I'm going to go to UCD if Berkeley doesn't reconsider. I effing hate LA. I've spent my entire life in this scene and I need to get out of this bubble.

So what NEW and COMPELLING info did you guys mention in your appeal. Did you send letters of recommendation or any other kind of documentation?

Hello there, guys -

I actually thought a little about appealing to Berkeley. I got into UCSD and posted another thread about how I can't decide whether to go to UCSD or not (I want to be an English major and know Berkeley's #1 in the country for public universities). I also didn't apply to any other UCs.

I also talked about how my friend, who was practically FORCING ME to go to Berkeley, passed away just a week ago, and now I feel like I want to do what she wanted me to, even though it still feels weird to go where she died. I haven't told her family that I got rejected yet, and I'm sure that if they knew about the appeals process, they would immediately try to figure out a way to get me in because they knew how much she wanted me to go lol =]

So, I'm still not sure. What do you guys think? Is it worth going through the appeals for a school in an area I'm not so familiar with, or just go to UCSD (where I'm not so sure about the Lit department).

Thanks - Camille

I thought about appealing, even though it could hardly make a difference until I thought about this:
Berkeley is an incredible school, but anytime I bring up that I want to go there to anyone outside of California, I am always asked: "that's the school with all of the hippies, right?" Internationally, the perception of Berkeley is always the activism of the 60's.
When I bring up that I got into UCLA to the same people, the response usually seems to be: "wow, that's a really good school, you must have done really well in CC."
I even had this issue in Paris, and since I want to work internationally, I've decided **** it, I'm going to be a Bruin.

tough call. this is really a stressful situation - getting everything together and making it worth while in order to reverse the decision. I would try because you might feel some regret, but don't do it and regret it in the end.

This had to happen right around finals...ugh.

What is everyone including?

Is there a way to call them and ask why you were rejected?

I am also curious about that: call and ask why you were rejected.
