| CSU -> UC la/b/sd or oos... is it possible?
Is it at all possible to transfer to any of those three schools. I'm going to attend CSULB starting in the fall and I will either study Economics, Business, or Finance.
Just how possible is it? Has anyone done or had any friends starting from a CSU school. How about transferring to other great universities outside of California? I plan on working my ass off and achieving a 4.0, what else will I need to do?
Target schools
UCB - Econ, Haas (I can dream)
UCLA - Biz Econ, Economics
UCSD - Economics
SDSU - International Biz
OOS - ?? Who knows

| Hey there,
I completely understand! I attend San Jose State University and was just admitted into UCB, UCLA, and UCD... so it is definitely possible. I applied for Political Science and was admitted in Davis for that major, into UCLA as pre-Political Science, and into Berkeley with an undeclared major into L+S. My GPA was 3.8something... I had absolutely no Extra Curriculars, Community Service, or a Job. I thought my essays were good, but for all I know they could have been crap. I plan on attending UCB. Hope this helps! Good luck to you... don't let anyone tell you it's difficult to transfer from a 4-year.. I got into all 3 that I applied to so it obviously can't be that hard!! | |

| You have a great shot if you attain a 4.0, just try and throw a little EC's in the mix and a good personal statement and you'll be fine. | |

| It will vary greatly on the major you apply. My recommendation is to focus on completing pre-requisites and transferable courses in addition to keeping a high GPA. Extracurriculars are important but not as much as GPA and pre-reqs.
Transfered from SDSU Business to UCD Managerial Econ. Rejected at Haas and UCLA Business/Econ. I had near perfect extracurriculars (jobs, intern, community service, clubs) and a pretty good essay. One thing that killed me was probably the 3.5 gpa and not completing all the pre-reqs. Make sure you take the right courses if you plan to transfer as a lot of the courses I took at CSU's do not count for UC's. | |

| in all honesty, focus on the grades/pre-reqs and screw the ECs and essay. they're not as important as people make them out to be. i didn't have any ECs and got into berk/la solely on GPA, i'm assuming. | |

| i think im going to change my major....as to what it is...not sure...but i still have time i will do two years at CSULB and then transfer, and i might change my mind.

| it is better and cheaper to do 2 years at a community college and then transfer. You would get guaranteed admission to UCSD if you go to a community college with TAG. If you sign TAP for UCLA you will have highest priority in transfer admission plus the option of an alternate major. Really i see no point in going to CSULB if your intention is to transfer, you're just wasting money | |

| I know that the odds of getting into a UC from a CCC are much higher but if i don't get into UCLA at least i know i still have a place at CSULB. I still have two years to make a decision so we'll see what happens, but thanx for all the advice i really appreciate it | |
