First year in CCC

I was wondering, what kind of class should i take during my first semester in community college. So far, i got english, calculus, maybe psychology, biology, and maybe political science. Any class suggestion should i try? I don't have a major yet and I'm using GED classes to explore so any advice would be fine.

Take calculus and English for sure
You'll have to take them if you're gonna major in science

For your first year, you should try to take 12-15 units and not much more than that. Take that amount of units to give yourself a base to see if you could handle more or not. I'd say that English, Calc, Bio, Psych would be a good course load.

Take an English class to better prepare yourself for college writing... and start working on all your Pre-Reqs for your major!!!! Choose one now!

Order of classes should be
Pre-Reqs=> IGETC (hard to easy: meaning arts and humanities should be last on your list) => useless units you need to complete at least 60

You should have a plan. Setup a 2 year (or 1 year) academic plan ASAP!

Ideally you want to work on your prereqs right away, but I know I changed majors like 3 times...so I recommend working on IGETC the first semester, or first two quarters, and seeing if the classes related to your major are ones you really like and take it from there.

If you're taking those classes, that's already 15 units. I don't think you'd want another class or you'd then have 18 or 19 units. But if you're mixing it up, I would definitely recommend English and probably sociology. If you're undecided and looking for something common, most people usually leans towards business/econ, accounting, psych, and sociology. If you're more into sciences, I would recommend that you DON'T take calculus. Take statistics instead, preferably Stat 18. For some other requirements, Anthropology and Philosophy tend to be pretty interesting.

You can also try to take classes that compliment each other.
ie. For IGETC, you may have to take Philosophy 25. You can also take philosophy 1, which would also fulfill a requirement. The info will cross between both classes and you'll do better.
