Transfer from CSUF using AP credit within one year?

I now plan on going to Cal State Fullerton after being rejected from my safety UC school UCI (don't get 3 C's during your sophomore/junior year when applying for engineering).

Background: I have taken 8 AP courses taking 9 tests during high school (assume I pass all tests and have enough sophomore status I have no idea whether this is the case).

I would like to know if I can transfer from that after only one full year attending CSUF. Then not only that would I be able go back to sophomore status and have housing (I want the true College experience)?

Yes, you probably can. I am at a four year oos school and technically only took a year of UC transferrable credit here, but I had lots of IB/AP tests that helped out, and I got into UCB. I think typically the UCs award you 4 semester units for each AP test with a score of 3 or above. Just make sure you have all of your pre-reqs done and you have the minimum amount of semester/quarter units.

As you are saying, it is convenient because you can either play the AP credit for or against you. So if you do want to stay three years after transferring, the AP transferrable credit won't cause you to exceed the limit of semester units you are allowed to take at a UC.

So if I have too many AP credit it won't count?

i want to transfer to UCB but my AP credits will cause me to go over the maximum 120 quarter units.

If the reason you're going over the max is because of AP credits, it's okay. AP credits only count towards the number of semester units you have and don't count if you exceed the maximum unit caps for the UCs.
