Repeating a math class before Cal?

I know UC policy states that you can repeat courses in the summer prior to fall transfer, EXCEPT for the required ones (english and math). So basically, if you were to fail math before transferring, your acceptance would be revoked. I'm like borderline failing my math class right now BUT I am a Spring admit, not Fall, so does this mean I would be allowed to make it up beforehand if I were to fail it?

Also, my brother was a fall transfer to Cal and HE failed a math class in his last semester too. He said he just called his admissions officer and pulled some strings and she let him do it over the summer even though it wasn't supposed to be allowed. Anyone aware of this possibility?
