I guess it all depends on the placement exam except if you passed the AP Calc exam.

Question: In my high school trig and pre-calc are one semester each which both together equals one full year. In CC is trig and pre-calc one semester each which would equal to 2 full years in high school?

Trig and pre-calc are usually clumped together into one semester. Check your preferred CCC's catalog for confirmation.

At De Anza, though, there's one quarter for trig, and two for pre-calc

Also, what does the placement test look like and consist of in your guys' CCs? I just checked my CC's website and it's only a 12 question, no time limit computerized test.

I took the placement test too and started with calc. Never finished High School, but self-studied for the test.

My placement test was like 50 questions (computer-based), from all kinds of subjects. It started with very basic Algebra and you could see that when you were doing well the questions would get harder, up to precalc material. If you were doing not so well on certain questions, the next few questions would be easier.

I go to College of San Mateo. I could've went to City College though.

Trig and Precalc are one semester each at my school.

The placement tests had 50 questions each and we were allowed to choose which test to take. If you missed more than half the questions, you had to either retake the test or take a lower-level test. I barely passed the test and started with Intermediate Algebra, which was where I was supposed to be since Geometry was the highest math I finished in high school.

i got a 4 on ap calc bc... but i skipped a semester before taking calc c and thas why i decided to take calc 1 again. it was a good decision for me tho
