is it possible to switch majors at UCLA after being admitted?

half of the people i talk to say, you're not allowed to switch majors after you get accepted, but the other half say its still possible.

im confused...someone care to enlighten me? =)

Have you talked to an admissions counselor or a counselor at the department you're interested in? They are the ones who know for sure in your case.

Generally they say that it's possible for unimpacted majors, and rare-to-impossible in impacted majors. I was told I can switch, but then the major I want is not an oversubscribed one.

Yes you can.

I changed majors at UCLA.

Econ and Life Sciences are the very hard ones to change into- but not impossible if you have compelling reasons and high gpa etc.

I talked to an admissions rep from UCLA about 3 weeks ago and he told me that if I didn't get into my first more impacted major (communications), and did get into my second choice (sociology), that if I was really set on comm, to accept the UCLA admission for soc and I could still get into communications with some work. He gave me some further info, but that's the gist of it.

Yep that is how UCLA is- if you bug enough people and make enough effort you get stuff done, but always remember their first answer is NO to everything, but when you dig further you find out that nothing is impossible.
