Are the mini suites in unit 1 +2 only for the theme programs? Are we likely to get them if we put them down as one of our choices? or don't bother?

Not sure. I don't know anyone who has been in one. Maybe contact housing.

Any other Cal veterans know anything? Chime in...

I was asking those questions too, but I got no answers on my thread. I'll post some questions here:

-Everyone says Wada is great for transfers. I want to put that as a choice, but it says it it closed during Winter? What does that mean? I can't stay in the apartment I'm paying for during winter? So that means I gotta be homeless for a while?

-Next question is about mini-suites. I'd rather have a double mini-suite rather than just a double, but there are those "programs" in the suites. Do you have to be a part of those programs to get a mini-suite room? ie. Asian Pacific etc. etc.

-Last is about the people. If I get a double in Unit 1,2, or 3, will I be stuck with freshman/sophomores? Is Wada and that other place (I forget the name) the only place for transfers?

Hey Skool, I can answer some of the questions you have.

- Wada is okay as I've said before, It's only for upper-division and transfer students. In my room I was bunked with another transfer student. The triple on the other side of the apartment was housing 3 upper-division students who had been at Cal their freshman year.

Wada does close down totally during winter break. You have to vacate the premesis for the duration and they change the locks on the entry door so no one can sneak back in. It sucks really.

- Still don't know anything about the mini-suites.

- If you get a double or triple in and of the units you have a great chance of getting stuck with frosh/soph roomies.

Channing-Bowditch is the other upper-division housing complex. (I don't think that there are any other rooms listed specifically for Transfers other than Wada).

From what I hear from a Berkeley housing rep, Channing-Bowditch is a better housing option than Wada for upper division students.
