| Upward grade trends 1st sem: 3.15
2nd sem: ~3.9
then I'm going to a CC
If I keep a 3.85+ say for summer (2 classes) , fall (4), winter (3-4), spring quarters (4)
Whats the best schools (not limited to UC's) I would be able to get in as my avg GPA would be low due to the 3.15 :x for finance or econ
With IGETC & no TAP.
First school choices: ucla econ
berk econ
usc finance
santa clara finance
Any others I would have a good shot at strictly gpa wise?
Thanks |

| What's your overall GPA? Overall GPA is probably more important than an upward trend, but a upward trend might help you get in if your borderline. |

| 3.15 probably murdered your gpa a lot.
ucla and berkeley is a bit out of your reach right now |

| Yeah I'm also confused by the way you put your stats up there. It would help if you could clarify what you wrote. |

| Well then is he even considered a CC to UC transfer? Dont they consider you as a transfer from a 4 year - cap your max units allowed and usually you can not do any of the agreements b/c they require for most of the units to be from CC |

| yeah im at SJSU for this 1st year (which is over)
but I only took 9 classes/2 semesters so getting more units from CC wouldn't be hard at all |

| So you have about 27 semester units?
be careful not to go over 80 (i think it is 80) - also do all the classes you took transfer to the UC? |

| Ok if i were you as a back up i would sign guranteed admission agreements with the other UCs - if you are ok with going to say UCSD just in case.
IGETC doesnt give you an edge in admissions- it just helps you with general education. If someone else satisfied the GE req another way they are still just as likely to get accepted.
If UCLA is your top choice than you need to do TAP- that is the ONLY thing that may help you.
UCLA econ is
a. Impacted
b. usually admits with pretty high gpa- i dont remember the exact number but i am certain it is above 3.6
c. UCLA likes to see you overcoming some sort of difficulty or hardships or family situation as a transfer- and then they also consider your employment- how strong are those areas of your application. (those things are considered b4 your ECs based on what i noticed) |

| Definitely. I will sign with UCSD and Santa Clara (good silicon valley private school)
I really don't have a top choice; just looking to get in any good school I can and most of the pre-reqs are the same for every college.
I agree with TAP for UCLA; due to my schedule TAP would be very hard to do as I have 1 more year to complete everything:
All of TAP (since I was at a CSU) which is 6 hard courses and would complete IGETC at the same time, along with 6 more pre-reqs :x
hmm I've had a PT job since June 2006, no internships though, going to take summer classes and maybe try to get another PT job
Thanks for the input! I'm still debating whether to do TAP or not
If there's even one class that isn't offered for TAP at the right time, my whole year's schedule could be thrown off :/ |

| Don't worry so much about TAP courses being more difficult than regular courses |

| Yeah. For me, it was all about time management, which a lot of students tend to flip out over, including me for a bit. I had about six extra research papers to do on top of regular hw, but it really isn't that bad if you pace yourself. I'm serious. :O |
