Will i have problems with the unit cap at UCLA?

Ok so I have 69 transferrable units or 103.5 quarter units. I know UCLA has a 216 unit cap so i was wondering if i had enough units to fulfill my major since im changing it.

Im a pre poli sci major and I want to change to sociology or english. I would need to take like three to four prereq classes to do this.

Can graduate within the unit cap? Am i in danger?

I think if you take everything in one 2-year-college system, it's fine. Although maximum 70 units will be transfered, you'll get 'subject credits' which will satisfy your requirement without getting units over 70 units.

So if you have 103 and the cap is 216 it seems like you can take more classes. I mean 4 prereq classes are 12 units so, 1.5*12. That's 18 quarter units, add that to 103.5 and its 121.5, still under the UC cap.

well of course that would be under the cap but add like 16 courses that fulfill the major...that's what I'm worried about

16 courses is 64 units only (on average)
You bring in 104 (rounded up)

that is only 168- not even enough to graduate.

If we add in 5 more preqs for Sociology (not sure if you even need that many) that would be 20 units.

So that is like 188. Lets say that you have not 16 courses but 20 for the major ( you dont, but lets really round all the way up there), so that is an extra 4 required courses, another 20 units, that puts you at 208 units--- still not at the unit max, and trust me , sociology doesnt require 20 courses.

You need at min 180 at most 216.

So yes you can switch majors and be well within the allowable.
