hey there... Cal is working on summer f/a packages for transfers right now provided that you have already signed up for your classes (at least 6 units). It takes a while so they don't allow you to take session A classes. That way it gives them time to put together your award. I suggest checking here every day until it posts Login_page
remember that summer f/a letters are different from fall & spring so you can't accept the award through BEAR FACTS, you have to use the summer link I just posted (you probably already knew that though) but just in case. Once the award letter posts and you have accepted, it only takes a week or so for the grant to post and pay your tuition fees depending on which session you signed up for. However the loans are sent to your CARS account 10 days before your first class starts, CARS updates and takes a few days to drop the remaining funds into your bank account.

Make sure that you have you MPN & loan entrance interview on file (you complete & sign them online).

I am not sure about the summer f/a & dorms since I have never lived in the dorms, however I do live in the UC Village, I know that when I first moved in here last year, the rent was due a few weeks before my f/a had posted but I called the housing department and they had told me that since the University owns the Village, they would wait on my f/a to drop into CARS and then just take it out of CARS. That is exactly what happened, although I still had to come up w/ the deposit on my own. I am assuming that since the cost of dorms is on your CARS then they should wait until your award posts. I would definitely call the housing department and verify that they will wait on that.

are you talking about the summer fee grant or the university fee grants in the fall and spring? The summer fee grants are only to cover tuition and fees but not living expenses. The loans cover living expenses. During the spring and fall semesters the university fee grants are grants that Berkeley uses to set up your f/a package until your Cal Grant posts, once that happens, then they reduce your University fee grants. If you do not get a Cal grant then your University fee grants stay the same, but it covers mainly your tuition and fees.

Hey, I didn't know there's a financial aid package for summer sessions. I would love to attend summer session if there's financial aid available.

its not too late... yo gotta be enrolled in at least 6 units tho.... only crappy classes are left right now. Actually, right now, I have to find another class to meet the 6units rule. I dropped one class knowing that it started on may 27. I did not realize this until right now. =X
