For The Love Of God I Cant Decide Between Ucla And Ucsd

sklfudslfbhsfbsjdfn, OK so **** is getting real. Only a handfull of days before SIR is due, and honestly Im like 50/50 between UCLA and UCSD. Im pre-med so UCSD is ranked higher for my major, and UCSD is located in IMO a better city than UCLA. HOWEVER, UCLA is nationally known, and has some awesome resources and an amazing campus. Any advice beyond the standard "UCLA" or "UCSD" would be greatly appreciated =]]

without a doubt

do u know how many ppl would trade from UCSD to go to UCLA
UCLA is more active campus
UCLA has more atractive students
Its a more cultured area
better night life
u still got santa monica beach if you like UCSD for the beach
not to mention the more famous national recognition

You're pre-med. Who cares about undergrad rank? You'll have a better time at LA

ranking by department is really not that important for undergrad I believe that the prestige factor of UCLA over UCSD is more important. But do not let the rankings determine where you want to go because both schools will give you an excellent education. I would have to Choose UCLA over UCSD however.

this is really from my impression that...

if you like beach...
if you don't mind campus food...
if you think you would stay in CA for the first few years of your career...
if you love sunshine...
if you want to experience culture diversity...
if you are not a big party person...
go to UCSD

if you are interested in doing research/becoming a guest speaker internationally...
if you love asians...
if you are interested in joining ECs...
if you can stand hot summer and smog...
go to LA

in both schools you would need cars, LA traffic is definitely a lot worse than SD.

My theory of UCLA

1. Hot girls go to UCLA
2. UCLA is a smart school
3. Therefore, UCLA has smart chicks who are hot...enough reasons to go.

dude, go to the school where you can get a higher GPA, that's all that matters for med-school.

my brother and sister both went/attend UCSD and I have a friend there that is pre-med (biology major). Also my sister's best friend is pre-med (another bio major). My friend isn't doing so well (had a rough first year) but my sister's friend has a 3.7 (mildly competitive for med school). It's fierce there and they all have dreams of med school (of course so do the students at UCLA), but I imagine that UCSD is less competitive.

Again, just go for the place that gives you a higher GPA. It' just for 2 years. SD is just as nice as LA, maybe a little more dull, but you'll be studying like crazy anyways, so who has time to enjoy the area? lol.

My suggestion is UCSD (clearly, lol!).

Lol, you should never choose a college because you “think” you’ll get a higher GPA at that school. I doubt that your GPA will be any higher at UCSD than it would be at UCLA. Just go with your heart and choose the school that you really want to go to. People on the UC board seriously need to stop perpetuating the false notion that an average person at LA/Berk will be a 4.0 student at a “lower” UC. The difference in the overall strength/intelligence among the UCs is overblown and menial at best. Just go where you think you’ll be the happiest. Don’t let competition/difficulty sway your decision. It’ll be equally as tough wherever yu go.

just keep in mind that the bureaucracy at LA is second to none- things that should be simple are not because the school is so overpopulated. at LA its much easier to fall through the cracks if you dont make an effort to involve yourself. but anyone who claims you will have less opportunity with a SD degree than an LA degree is smoking pole. people have this funky impression that simply by attending UCLA that employers are going to stalk you...
not so much-
its ALWAYS about the connections you make and the relationships you build.

thats why i laugh at middle class suckers who think that by attending USC they are going to be juiced into some amazing alumni connections----
Nope.
old money hangs with old money.
