High school drop out?

Okay I have made a lot of topics, but I don't believe I ever once mentioned I may not graduate high school.

Pretty much I took AP Statistics, slacked off like crazy, and I am at the teacher's mercy for a D (i am at a 50% right now will end up around 55%-57%). If I don't get that D, I will not have enough credits to graduate. I am hoping the teacher gives me that D, but just in case I have to answer to my counselor, I don't want to do it irrationally.

Here is a scenario (which may happen if the teacher has no mercy, I'd give it a 25% chance, but I have no idea what the teacher is thinking after I told him I'd try and probably only got a C on the last two tests to raise my grade up to like probably 55%)... My teacher gives me an F. I am trying to transfer to UCLA. I was planning and am registered to take two summer classes (one morning, one evening) leaving me 6 hours free between. The problem is that I need to take summer school if I want to graduate. That will pretty much take another 3 hours. I am going to be driving, if this is the case, to three different schools every day (Monday - Thusday) leaving me only the late hours to do any homework and one hour in between all of these other classes. This will make my classes infinitely harder (physics and calculus although it is a retake).
What should I do?
My options I think are: Don't graduate and only focus on summer classes. Don't retake calculus and graduate.

Also... would not graduating be really bad for transfers?

Just go take the CHSPE and call it a day.

I never graduated, i left junior year.

by the way all that planning your doing and your desire to be done in 1 year are sooo unrealistic. WHy dont you focus on one thing at a time. You dont need a high school diploma or a CHSPE or a GED to transfer.

I agree with the last post. However if there is a chance you can graduate high school on time, I would try to do that first (then you get to walk and go to grad night and all that good stuff). If not, take that test to get out of high school so you can focus on college.

Also, I think you're crazy for taking on so many summer classes you talked about in that other thread. If your just starting college, I don't think you know your limits and setting yourself up to receive poor grades due to such a heavy load.

I'm also going to apply for the engineering school at UCLA. Taking high level math/science classes is time consuming and it's good to have time to absorb all the ideas/concepts you have to learn. Most engineering majors in CC I know spread their courses over 3ish years. If you really want to transfer as soon as possible, I suggest you take a lighter load of courses to start, then eventually take more and more classes so you can better learn your limits.

Have a talk with your teacher and explain your situation (ie, why you've been doing this bad) and ask if there's still a chance to pass the class and graduate. If a teacher knows he/she holds they key to graduation, the chances of lenience (in the form of extra work assigned) are better.

Not graduating HS is not a negative thing for transfers, because the main thing that matters is your grades in college and how many prerequisites you've completed for your desired major. I was admitted as a transfer to UCLA without having completed HS (got a CHSPE certificate in 10th grade). UCLA doesn't even ask for your HS transcripts.

cry in front of them.

MAN does that work. especially if the teacher happens to the be the men's basketball coach and doesn't know how to respond to a girl crying...

i didn't do this to change, a grade, i did it so i wouldn't get in trouble for my friend copying my HW in HS. I know, I know... I was an unethical little monster in HS.

I've already talked to my teacher. He said if I do good on the next two tests, I think I am going to get C's on both. I don't believe that is what he wanted. I haven't tried crying. I am sure I could pull off tears, since I may not graduate and they may be legit tears. And what does CHSPE stand for?

You'll be alright Dolphins. Personal responsibility comes with age (although with some people I wonder). You'll be alright. Hang in there and don't give up!

hey i say drop out. Cut your losses and go to a CC and absolutely kill it. I applied to the top UC's this year without a HS diploma or GED after dropping out of junior year. I was offered several full rides. It CAN BE DONE! reach for the skies!
