transferring to uci/ucsd for winter or spring???

if i finish all my prereqs for my major by fall...which term should i apply for...

or...for these schools, does it really matter if u finish all your prereqs if you have a near 4.0 gpa???

i'm considering either to transfer either as business or civil engineering...i have more business prereqs done???

taking these things into consideration...what's my best bet...applying as business, or civil...and should i apply for winter or spring???

thanks

If you really want to, go for Winter quarter. UCI/UCSD doesn't accept applicants for spring quarter. Apps are up at the UC site right now so good luck! :]

i believe this part of your statement was incorrect:

"UCI/UCSD doesn't accept applicants for spring quarter"

i checked the uc pg, and uci was open, and ucsd was open for people who had tag

Really? UCSD said this year's TAG program is only limited to a few CCC's; they'll start offering TAG to all CCCs starting Fall 09. I checked the UCI page & it said "closed to new applications" for Spring. I just talked to a UCI tag counselor a few weeks ago & she told me to get TAG for Winter quarter if all my pre-reqs are done by Fall. She told me people rarely get in for Spring b/c CCC's semester system would overlap with the quarter system at UC.

Unless you decide to take a quarter off & enter in Spring... then that's a different story. I just posted what I know/heard from the counselors (I'm signing for TAG next week) so I'm sorry if my info is inaccurate or anything.

You don't need TAG to apply for admission. If your GPA is already high & you're confident, you don't really need TAG. TAG just guarantees admission as long as you met their requirements.

If you want TAG for UCI (Winter), I suggest you go to your CC's transfer next week & ask about it. It's not too late, as long as you get TAG before you submit your application for winter admission (July 31st deadline). If your CC is in the UCI area, a UCI counselor is most likely in touch with your transfer center. Go to: UC Irvine - Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools to read more if you're interested. Their requirements are very doable in my opinion.

Same with UCSD but as of now, SD only does TAG for a handful of CC's in California. So check here: University of California - Admissions to see if UCSD does TAG for your CC.
