In a community college, how does the TAG program work?

From what I understand, in order to sign a transfer agreement with a UC, I need to have 30 units and a certain GPA. If you meet the requirements, sign the TAG, and finish all the courses you need to transfer, then you're guaranteed to get into the college and major of choice?

Let's take UC Davis for example, and the major is Biological Science. To sign a TAG I need 30 units, and at least a 2.8 GPA. So let's say I finish all the classes needed to transfer and I maintain that GPA (maybe a little higher), then I get guaranteed admission? Is that how it works?

I believe that you now don't have to actually sign any agreement. You just check the TAG box on your UC online application and you're set. You've got everything else correct, just meet the requirements and you're guaranteed admission.

letschopcats: for davis you do need a written agreement to sign a TAG Its just a paper where u write ur planned courses and that you follow the agreement and if you dont keep up with the gpa then the agreement wont work

&& for davis you need 30 UC transferable units before the fall you transfer for TAG...soo say you plan on transfering fall of 2011...you will need to have 30 transferable units and sign your tag agreement by sept 2010...and then complete 60 transferable units by spring 2011.

you can go here to see if your classes are transferable to a UC

To qualify for TAG, you need to be a California community college student:
• enrolled at one or more CCCs for at least 2 regular terms
• completed at least 30 semester (45 quarter)UC-transferable units at a CCC

how come the ucsd rep i met says i need to complete at least 60 semester UC-transferable units to be qualified for TAG fo ucsd?

Well I understand the minimum requirements I have to meet to qualify for TAG, but does it guarantee admission into the MAJOR, or just the school?

You need 60 transferable students to be considered a junior level transfer. UCSD only requires 30 of these to be from California Community Colleges.

For UCSD, there isn't any paperwork needed before you apply in November with TAG. You just check the box on the application for the UCSD TAG. For UCD on the other hand, you needed to have it signed by a counselor by the end of October and the counselor would then submit it. Then you would check the UCD TAG box on the application when you apply. Different UCs have different TAG procedures.
