Just a heads up for you Poli Sci majors on stats: UCLA accepts “Stats 10” from your CC to fulfill your Math requirement BUT the Political Science Department at UCLA DOES NOT. In other words you will be accepted into the school but if you have only completed Stats 10 you will be required to take another Poli Sci stats class (Poli Sci 6R) once you arrive here. To avoid this mistake (unlike me) the Poli Sci Dep. will accept "Psych. Stats" as fulfillment of your math requirement (I’m not sure if all CC’s offer this but mine did and my counselor told me there was no difference…of course). Not a huge deal but I was annoyed that no one told me this before transfer and I could have just taken ONE stats class instead of two (i hate math). So check this out and see if you can make your life just a tad bit easier. No reason to take an extra class if you don’t have to.

@DC and SMC - It sounds like it does not fulfill the PoliSci requirements, based on what CBB is saying. Perhaps it would be best to contact the school before you take the class?

I believe 6r is only required if your concentration is Methods and Models. Mine won't be so I think 'm covered with Statistics 10.
Preparation for the Major
Required: Four lower division courses from Political Science 10, 20, 30, 40, 50. These lower division courses are requisites to upper division courses and 10, 20, 30 & 6, 40, and 50 are required in those fields designated as the concentration or distribution field. PS 6 or 6R along with PS 30 is required for a concentration or distrbution in Field V, Methods and Models. Students must also take one statistics course from Political Science 6 or 6R, Anthropology M80, Economics M40, Geography M40, Social Sciences 40, Sociology M18, Statistics 10, Statistics 11, Statistics M12, or Statistics M21C. PS 6 or 6R may be taken for credit and is not considered a repeat of content if another of the listed statistics courses has already been taken.

I am glad this came up, because I my alternate major for UCLA is going to be Political Science and the statistics requirement on assist for me is 2 Psych classes. Psychological Stats and Psychological research.
I really would like to Double Major in History and Political Science. At the very least a Minor in Political Science. I will be TAP certified for UCLA, but I am aiming for Berkeley.
Any advice for pursuing Poli Sci as a 2nd major? On the best way to go about it?
