UCB Pre-pharm.D? Spring transfer, pre-reqs, etc.

I will make this short. I've decided rather late in my college career that I'd like to pursue pharmacy. I have been admitted to Berkeley for the Spring 2011 semester. However, most of my pre-reqs currently completed, are mostly from humanities and social science courses. I'm actually receiving my A.A in liberal arts/social and behavioral science. To that end, I barely have any science pre-reqs completed as my previous intended major was going to be History or Anthropology. I was wondering if Berkeley usually allows transfer students to complete pre-reqs this late? Trying to declare a major in IB may make completing those pre-reqs and graduating on time a bit easier, but I still wouldn't graduate on time from Berkeley as the pre-reqs required for pharmacy programs require a lot of time and I've only completed maybe 2 of the science requirements thus far. Is it possible for someone in my kind of situation to be able to finish my pre-reqs and major at Berkeley and apply by 2012?

You can apply to pharm school without the pre-reqs being done. As long as you finish before you attend the school you will be fine. Also there are non-PCAT schools so you don't have to finish the classes and take the PCAT. I would finish your anatomy, physiology, and microbiology requirements at your CC so you don't have to declare to IB to finish those pre-reqs. Just take the lower-div pre-reqs which I think is open to everyone. So yeah it is possible to apply during 2012. I would try the non-PCAT schools. Then after finishing your pre-reqs take PCAT and apply for the rest of the schools the following year.

^Thanks iTransfer for the swift reply. So one follow up question then, as I didn't specify another concern. I think that I will take the microbiology and physiology in Fall but by Spring, since I'm taking a UC extension course I should have around 75 units, but will need 7-9 more pre-req courses. Does it matter if my pre-req courses don't overlap with my major and will cause my graduation date to be a semester or so later? I've read on the website that if one decides to double major for example, that they have to complete all work towards a degree in 9 semesters (which I assume includes five of which I would have already completed by Spring). Does this apply to everyone and mean that I'd only have four semesters to complete both a major and those pre-reqs? In other words, It's good to know that all of my pre-reqs won't have to be completed until I actually go to pharm school, but will Berkeley let me take them?

Btw, I do plan discussing this with a counselor, I'm just a bit anxious I guess.

No it doesn't matter. I would say it is more important to do well. I don't know much about the unit cap at UCB but I would guess that there is time limit to it.

I recommend not to do both majors.. Just do one major. Do well while slowly doing the pre-reqs. Take summers to do it if you have to. Doing two majors is overkill. I wouldn't do it unless you really love bio. Just one major and the pre-reqs that is fine. I would spend my time getting volunteering/pharmacy/research experience instead of taking more classes.
