Today's question...

Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur (the Jewish High Holidays, aka New Year's) fall within the first two weeks of fall quarter. I'm curious as to whether students at UCLA (since it is a public school) get at least one of these days off. I always got Yom Kippur off K-12, but since it's so close to the beginning of the quarter, is there an exception in college?

Although I don't necessarily mind celebrating on-campus with the Hillel or JSU, I'd rather be with my family for this kind of a holiday.

UCLA, as a public university, doesn't give religious holidays off.
But hey, this is college - 99% of your professors won't care if you show up. If you want, just take those days off.

Why not just ask your professors what impact your missing a day of class will have. Most will tell you in advance what will happen at each class session during the term anyway. So, just handle your time off with your professors.
