How many classes?

I get my classes in a week, and I was wondering how many I should take. Almost everywhere online suggests only 3 classes for the first quarter, but most people I know are telling me to go for 4. What should I do? Thanks.

What some people do is take 3 courses and then 1 fiat lux (most courses are 5 units but the fiat luxes only count for one, i believe). Other people just take 3 courses w/o a fiat lux.

yea i think they suggest only 3 courses that are 4-5 units and then if you want to another 1 unit class (fiat lux or seminar, whichever) it wouldn't be too much harder. i chose math32a, chem20a, and cs31 each of which are 4 units then also chose cs 1 which is 1 unit, so even though it was 4 classes it was only 13 units.

Um...there's a reason they recommend 3. But if you want 4, go for it. Just make sure to really gouge yourself the first few weeks to see if you can handle it. If you can't, drop a course, if you can, stick with it. =)

Fiat lux are a waste of time, unless you are undecided about your career path, but have several options.
