Can i get in?

I was wondering if i could get into a California school preferrably Long Beach or something along the line of that. I go to a catholic school in Ohio, what are the chances of me getting in if i have a ACT score of 25-30?? and what else is recommended for an out-of-stater to get into a California school?

Why would you want to go to a CSU when you have a great school like Case Western Reserve? It's more drastic to go to a CSU when you have your similar to quality state schools in Ohio.

You should look up "profile of admitted freshmen UCLA" to get an idea of what you need to get in.

Baseballkid14, which schools interest you? I've gone to schools from both systems.

Likely in at the Cal States. The UCs will be much more difficult.

Check the application process, some may require you to take the SAT versus ACT.

Good luck!

BTW, for a new to California student, I'd recommend SDSU, CSULB, UCSB and UCI over UCR and CSUF.

If your stats are good, you may also want to try USC...it's easier for OOS students than the UCs, and gives better aid.

^ Worth a shot depending on your ACT.

USC is great for legacy admits...hence the joke "University of Special Connections"

I'm gonna get flogged for recommending USC in the UCLA forum, though.

^ nah... he's OOS. the bias is less because they're so far removed... among CA admits, when in-state tuition means that you're getting the same (and often better) experience at UCLA for much less than U$C, there's an inherent bias.
when you wanna get out of the midwest, though, you're a little less picky where you end up xD
