Picking classes at UCLA

I am an incoming freshman at UCLA this fall. I was wondering if anyone can give me suggestions as to which classes to pick at UCLA for a pre-med direction. I am currently undecided on my major and have signed up for the 1st orientation session this summer. Which courses fill up the quickest and which courses should I sign up for?
I am interested in potentially majoring in cognitive science, psychology, or psycobiology.

take Psych 10. Its easy and will fulfill a requirement (If you are Psych/Psychobio, dunno about Cog Sci). Plus you will know early on if you actually want to be a Psychology Major.

You might want to get started on the Life Science track then. Take Chem 14A, Math 3A (unless you placed out of it, then you'll probably be in 3B), and whatever GE you want. If you can get Life Science 1, get it.

To reply #3,

Hows the courseload with Math3A, a GE, Chem 14, and Life Science. UCLA recommends just math, chem, and the GE. they say life science first semeseter is a lot of work

I would def urge you not to take all 4 classes your first quarter, especially the combination you're suggesting. All three of those sci/math courses you mentioned require a lot of work. And it's not the work you can put off. Many require weekly hw assignments. Math problems for 3a, chem problems, and labs/demo write ups for ls. In addition to quizzes 2 midterms likely for each of those courses and finals. I would recommend deciding between taking chem or ls. Chem fall quarter is very overcrowded because so many first years want to start right away. It might be nice to take chem 14a winter quarter when there is slightly less of a demand for the course (not much). Unless you want to be slaving away your first quarter I'd pick one or the other. There are a lot of pre-med requirements to meet but keep in mind that many of the bonds you make in college are made this first quarter. There's always summer school and taking 4 courses every quarter for the rest of your career. Take time to enjoy all UCLA has to offer, not just the academic aspect. Hope this helps!
