Changing Schools/Majors

I'm currently in the School of Letters and Sciences and majoring in Political Science, but I realized that I may not be happy with this field and am instead interested in majoring in civil engineering. Is it possible to transfer to the College of Engineering and applied arts and switch to civil engineering or is that impossible? And, if possible, could I state my intent to change majors at orientation?

Probably more difficult to change than just "Say at orientation". Talk to a counselor in the Engineering school during orientation.

Thank you very much! However, I've heard that the switch from the college of arts, letters, and sciences to the college of engineering and applied sciences is EXTREMELY difficult to switch to. Thanks for all of the help!

i know someone who switched from undeclared in the college of letters arts and sciences to engineering. it is extremely difficult to switch into the engineering school. When you wan to transfer into engineering, they also look at your high school grades. for one, freshman admission into engineering depends mostly on your math and science grades. Moreover, it requires many units to graduate with an engineering degree. Also, students in the engineering school take the fewest GEs.
