Why not just delete the rec field yourself? Or customize the form to fit the UC application? Or best yet, stop copypasting this thread days before decisions are released just so you can be the one who makes it?

thank you so much! my top choice is georgetown. all the schools i applied to besides ucla are on the east coast, i just wanted the west coast to be an option. good luck to everyone finding out in a few hours xxx

Reflection
Strengths: Dynamic, well-rounded, and committed. Although I didn't have the strongest test scores, I did stand out of my class by excelling in things I was passionate about - running, writing, and community service.
Weaknesses: I occupied an AWFUL sleep schedule my junior and senior year. Being the first to go to state from my school meant morning practices. Sleeping at 12-3 am and waking up at 5:30 to do intervals did a number on me. Personally, I never reached my full potential in academics and I think I can change that come next fall.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I showed that I was not only different from the rest of my class, in terms of athletics and academia, but also genuine. I maintained a solid, but not impossible, schedule throughout my four years, taking around 2-3 AP's my junior and senior year.

Decision: Accepted

Objective:

SAT I (breakdown): Math-690, Reading-620, Writing-760
SAT II (if submitted): Bio 730, US History 650
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.9
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 3%, 20th
AP (place score in parenthesis): Biology (5), US History (5), English Language & Composition (5)
Senior Year Course Load: AP Calc BC, AP Chemistry, AP Spanish 4, AP English Lit&Comp, Political Systems & Economics CP, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble A, Marching Band.
Major Awards : AP Scholar, Silver Award (90 percentile of the National Spanish Exam)

Subjective:

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): 4-year Marching Band Flute player, 4 Year wind ensemble flutist, 4 year Jazz Ensemble A top pianist, (Marching Band flute section leader, Concert Band representative leadership), 3 year National Honor Society member, 4 year California Scholarship Federation Member, 3 year flutist of Catholic Church choir ensemble. Also did a summer medical mentorship with the Los Angeles Pediatric Society for 2 weeks. I shadowed doctors in 6 different medical centers.
Volunteer/Community service: MHS Band fundraisers, Rescue Mission Soup Kitchen, local elementary & preschool volunteer,
Essays: my first one wasn't great, just on being biracial (half asian, half white) and how my parents different views have affected who I am. My second one was on band and it was pretty good; about my leadership in band and the sense of unity/family/dedication.

Other

Applied for Financial Aid?: yes
Intended Major: Biology, with Pre Med
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public High School
Ethnicity: Half Korean, Half White
Gender: female
Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): They really like band & my band leadership. And when I join clubs, I stay for 3-4 years which shows dedication; I don't just join senior year so I can put it on my app.

Reflection

Strengths: Well rounded, great musician but also a great student with a strong interest in medicine.
Weaknesses: SAT score wasn't THAT great (2070) and band brings my weighted GPA from a 4.3 to a 4.2. But it just goes to show you that numbers aren't all that matters.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Because my extra curriculars, grades, and scores were all around good, and I am well rounded. Also leadership and the medical mentorship.

General Comments: I AM SO HAPPY I GOT IN! UCLA IS MY #1! I also went in for an interview because I applied for the UCLA Alumni Scholarship and I got called back for an interview! It went well. All in all, I'm extremely happy! And it just goes to show you that NUMBERS AREN'T ALL THAT MATTERS. My friend with a 2300 and 4.5 got waitlisted to UCLA and me, with a 4.2 and 2070, I got in over him!!! Extra curriculars and leadership reeeeeeeeeeeeally matter!! So get involved!
