Hi Y'all,

I am currently a sophomore at UNC. I transferred in from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. I am a Week of Welcome (WOW) coordinator for the upcoming year. I was wondering if there is anything you would like to have that first week between move in and classes that you feel would be a fun way to become acclimated to the most amazing school on the planet. This can range from social events, to anything you'd like to know more about, or anything you'd like to see. Basically- no idea is a bad idea, and I'd be really really happy to hear your thoughts, because that week is dedicated to you guys!!!

Hey,
So I wanted to know how UNC embraces OOS, or how OSS adapts especially the first week. I'm coming from New York and I am living off campus so I feel a little disadvantaged.

Don't expect much. Carolina is very good at dealing with transfers, but if you are an OOS, good luck. Your first week will be pretty lonely unless you are planning on rushing a frat/sorority.

Danny, ahduke represents a small minority of people who have actually been dissatisfied with their experience at UNC, if you haven't seen his other posts. I wouldn't worry about it.

My son is OOS and is having an awesome time. He is having no problems meeting people and getting involved.

Same for my OOS daughter. She actively searches out opportunities to make new friends and become involved on campus. She is not expecting the university to do it for her. There are so many wonderful clubs and worthwhile activities available on campus. One would not have to try very hard to find multiple ways to be involved and meet new people.

I was just recently accepted and maybe a cool thing to have would be something along the lines of a 'what i'd wish I'd known' from a bunch of different students. Idk just came to mind and I figured I'd post.
