Residency reclassification

Hi! My son was accepted to UA as well as a smaller Alabama college starting in 2008. Son was born in AL and attended elementary school there. My husband still has professional license in AL and participates in their pension program. We moved to GA because it was where the jobs are and plan on moving back to AL when we retire in a couple of years. My son has a paid up PACT program which pays in-state tuition to an AL college.

I was talking with the recruiter from the smaller college. She said it was easy, at her school, to get reclassified as an AL resident, but that at AL and Auburn it was almost impossible to get reclassified to get the in-state tuition. Does anyone know if this is true?
