Hotels

We are coming into town next Friday 9/25, from Florida, for a college visit. The Alabama-Arkansas game is the next day and hotel prices are thru the roof on Friday. Can someone give me some good advice of where to stay to save some money on hotel cost?

It's an unfortunate fact that it is nearly impossible to book a reasonably priced room in Tuscaloosa on game weekends. These rooms are booked months in advance. Try hotels in the Cottondale or Vance areas. These are little towns just east of Tuscaloosa toward Birmingham. I don't know how nice the hotels might be or if they are even available, but they should be less expensive. You can also consider Bessemer or even Birmingham. It's not a terrible drive from these areas to Tuscaloosa. If you and your student want to see what Tuscaloosa is like on game day you should hang around on Saturday and check it out. It's pretty crazy on the quad...

There are several nice hotels in the McCalla or Hoover area. Any on I-459 should be no more than 40-50 min drive to the Alabama campus, on Friday that is. Saturday (game day) is another story. Good Luck

I agree with above...most hotels are booked well in advance of game days. If you're a member of AAA, I would have them try to find you a room ...or try one of the hotel booking websites to find the closest room for the best rate.

This should be a "heads up" for Family Weekend. As soon as you find out when Family Weekend is scheduled, book your room
