I think there is another CC family that has mentioned that they are taking their child (a daughter??) this Friday.
We've never been to "University Days." Look over the schedule and if there is something that doesn't interest you, spend that time looking at things that aren't included in the intinerary.
I don't know if a visit to the Honors College is included (in Nott Hall); so if it's not included, I would try to go there for a visit.
If you haven't already, look at this thread about touring UA UA Campus Tour tips .... <3
Some may not be applicable since you're going to U Days, but some info should help. Have fun and Roll Tide!

D has been invited to Honors day to meet Dean Sharpe, learn about the honors college, and tour the campus. Has anyone been to this event before? What is the dress for the day? They have 4 or 5 days to choose from, and space is limited according to the invitation. We are going in Nov.

Ok...I called the Honors College office...according to a VERY reliable source (who may not want to be named...LOL), the dress code for Honors Day is....
.....dress comfortable.
But...I always say first impressions are lasting...so, I would have my child dress in "nice school clothes" (nothing sloppy/faded/torn/etc)
Be sure to RSVP!
We've found the Honors Presentations to be VERY good. Even the Honors Presentations that UA hosts at local hotels are very good (with very good food, too! LOL)

Thanks for the info.
D has been to several "events" the last couple of years that require dressy casual (is that possible?) type attire. I guess I'm always afraid of over dressing than under. I think comfy shoes are the way to go if a campus tour is planned.

I also recommend just wearing nice, comfortable school clothes to events like these. Since UA is in the South, dressing up a little is encouraged. We do have events that specify business casual or business interview dress, but the vast majority of events are not this way. That said, when I see prospective students touring campus, the trend tends to be more of a business casual, but with dark jeans.

Forgot to add to post above...
If your child is interested in CBHP and/or Fellows, encourage your child to introduce him/herself to the directors (firm handshake, confidently stating his/her first and last name ) Dr. Sharpe is big on handshakes. He shakes students' hands all the time. I think that's part of his "preparing students for the corporate world" agenda...
Make sure your child is prepared to answer any pertinent questions that a director might ask...major...research interests...career goals...

This is probably true...For this event...I think a nice pair of khakis or nice DARK jeans and a nice polo or similar is enough for boys. Girls can wear anything from casual dresses to pants with nice tops, but obviously nothing in poor taste or revealing.
I don't think shorts are appropriate, though. Besides, it's getting colder...
But Seatide is right, there will be UA occasions when business attire is expected.

Well I'm thinking University Days will be different than Honors days. I am almost positive I can guess my kids dress--Jeans, Converse, T-shirt (probably with a dinosaur on it)..lol We just might stick ok, but thats ok. The way I see it the University needs to impress us. If you see us, come over and say hi!!

Oh definitely...on UDays, I'm sure you'll see a catch all of outfits.
I think on Honors Days, since some kids are trying to get into CBHP and/or Fellows, those kids might be hoping to have a little "face time" with those directors to make a good impression. |

We were very impressed with bama. Choosing a college just became more difficult for my daughter. Now she really likes bama and that other school in Alabama!

Navarre...What was UDay? I've never been to one? Was it "rah rah"? Did you get to see the inside of Shelby?
Where all did you go?

Navarre, please post about your University Day! We're anxious to hear about Bama!
Like Mom said, did you get to see Shelby or the dorms or eat in the cafeteria?
