Keep an eye on that Nick Saban..He is a liar..I'd be worried he might get the school in some trouble..

"Well, then I guess I have to say it: I'm not going to be the Alabama coach." - Nick Saban a few weeks before taking the Alabama job after the 2006 season

It's just as well, he wasn't good enough to play with the big boys. Can you tell I don't like Saban? lol

Yes, I know about that turn around. It just goes to show that when another potential employer is wooing you, you need to keep your trap shut because they might just offer you enough money that you can't refuse. Seriously, people need to keep their mouths shut! (Not to get political, but how many times do we hear some polititian say, "oh no, I'm not going to run for XXXX job," and then they do!!!! LOL When are people going to learn that "no comment" is the safe comment.

Anyway, Saban has done amazing things at Alabama. Maybe pro wasn't really his thing (I have no idea about such things LOL).

I think the same might happen to Urban Meyer. He's already let it slip that he considers Notre Dame his dream job. But, he's now saying he'll stay at Florida. I'm guessing that ND is going to be dangling some big bucks at Urban after they dump Charlie Weis (which I suspect will happen very soon) ND alumni are pi$$ed. ( I have in-laws in South Bend)

Yeah Saban is a great college coach..
On Meyer, he'd be crazy to leave Florida for Notre Dame. It is just easier to win in the state of Florida. Since 1983 the state has 10 National Championships and Notre Dame has only one. However, money talks!! LOL

^^

Agreed! But ND has been hurting recruitment-wise because their recent head coaches haven't been convincing enough to attract top talent. You have to first get the coach, then build credibility, and then you get the best recruits.

Alabama just got a verbal this weekend from a "blue-chip" rated high school football player. He's ranked #1 in the country for his position. Keenan Allen - Yahoo! Sports.
Alabama also got a verbal from the #2 ranked quarterback and the #2 ranked DB.

Having these disappointing seasons is killing ND. It's hard to convince a prospect to sign for ND, only to be on losing teams.

Quite the contrary, actually. They've landed numerous top recruits that every program wants, like Jimmy Clausen, Manti Te'o, Michael Floyd, Dayne Crist, etc... They even stal quite a few Cali kids from Pete Carroll's clutches.
I'll have to look it up, but I think Notre Dame has been in the Top 10 for recruiting under Weis.

Ok, well, the first three years of his full recruiting years, they were in the top 10, then slipped to 21 last year.

This how ND ranked in recruiting, based off Rivals.

2006-8
2007-8
(they beat Bama those two years, but that was B.S. ...Before Saban)
2008-2
2009-21

Slipping to 21 is probably the start of what you are eluding to, the W-L record catching up to them, but the bottom line is that ND has the talent, Chuck just doesn't know how to use it.

But even if ND could get Urban, as a Notre Dame fan, I wouldn't want him, he runs a dirty program. But money talks, for both ways. Urban would get a boatload of cash and Urban could bring the University a lot of money as well.

But Notre Dame is very frustrating, which is why it is nice to have your second favorite team be Alabama.

Sooner or later, repetitive "bad" seasons are going to catch up to you. I think for awhile there, ND was relying on its name alone to get top recruits. Many Catholic high school football players (especially the Irish ones) grew up wanting to play for ND.

I went to an all-girls Catholic high school, and we had an all-boys Catholic school that we cheered for. Those boys wanted to play for ND.

ND needs a lot of Black Irish on its teams...

My ND alum neighbor who is African-American insists that he's Irish. LOL

(You should see his car....LOL...no mistaking that he's an ND alum)
