crazy anxiety

Hi. I've been a member for alittle over a week now but this is my first post.

I've been searching the site for a proper place to put this, but I could only find this section. Forgive me if I am wrong for putting this here.

Ok, so I audition for Uarts last saturday. I auditioned for the dance department. I really want to get into Uarts and I don't want to have to transfer. I'm just really scared that i won't be able to make the cut. I read on one of the Uarts journals that it is very easy to get into Uarts. And from what I saw on my visit, they except people purely on potential and talent (in that order). I know I have a great amount of both.

I'm just scared that it wasn't enough. I feel like everyone who goes to Uarts knows something that we who don't attend the school don't know. I know I am stressing it a bit too much, but i can't help but stress it. I just needed to get my anxieties out lol.

Do can anyone talk to me about their experiences with this? If any.

Since this is a musical theatre site, and you seem to have auditioned for the
dance dept. I'm not sure if there's anyone here who knows much re dance major auditions.
However, as far as the comment on being "easy to get in to UArts" that certainly is not true in any M/T program. Apparently (UArts) auditions are up this year and I imagine that they will continue to grow year after year.
As for dance, I doubt it is "easy" as well. The dance training for M/T's as well as dance majors is wonderful and intense. If you have the "potential and talent" as you say, I would take a deep breath, try not to stress (maybe do some Yoga), and wait it out. I know it's hard, but you made it through the audition and that's half the battle. GOOD LUCK to you!

As Mainstage said (in different words!), you did your audition and you did your best at the audition, so now all you really *can* do is take a deep breath (or several!), sit back and wait to see what happens. I know it's awful not knowing what is going to happen (my D is in the same position with a number of schools! ), but there is nothing else you can do now! Try to trust that if you are a good match for the program, the adjudicators will see that and select you.

And the nice thing about UArts is that many students hear about their results within about 2 weeks of their audition, provided the rest of their application is complete. So, as has been suggested, try to sit back and not stress so much. The tough part is over, you made it through your audition.

On a side note, Mainstage is correct about the increased competitiveness for the MT program. Per Charles Gilbert, the head of the MT program, the number of scheduled auditions is up 60% from last year for a class size that will remain at 20 - 24 freshmen.
