Another day of waiting...

My son auditioned at Unifieds in Chicago well over a month ago, and still no word. Those of you who have acceptances, in what form did they arrive? Phone call, snail mail, or email? I understand that "no news is good news" at this point. He did receive a phone call early last week for additional information. We are so afraid of getting our hopes up, but also need to plan a quick trip out to Philly if there is an acceptance (he hasn't visited the school). Is it appropriate to call? Or would that be seen as pestering?

you can IM Alyson Giantisco or email any of the admissions counselors and I'm sure they'd be happy to help you. Just say, "I know people who have started getting acceptances, do you have any idea when I/my son will get mine/his?"
So far, every time I've asked them something like that, they've been very warm, welcoming and happy to help.

I auditioned at the NYC Unifides and got an acceptance in the mail about a week ago. Im sure you could call and they will at least tell you if your letter has been sent. Best of luck!

AZKMom - The fact that they called for more info indicates that your sons app /audition packet is being actively reviewed. Hang in there, you should hear soon. As far as I am aware, all decisions are communicated by snail mail.

My daughter auditioned at Chicago and got her letter (via a big white envelope) about 3 weeks later. As someone stated somewhere else on this site, there seems to be no rhyme or reason with the process! I do know a girl who got her rejection letter very soon after auditioning so the longer his name is in there the better, I would think! Good luck!

It's Here!!

I am just shaking as I am writing this, but his acceptance arrived today for the acting program!! Finally, some relief; he WILL be going to school somewhere. Now we need to schedule a quick trip. Any suggestions for a close hotel within walking distance. I assume we can take public transportation from the airport to a hotel near the school. Thank you for everyone's replies!!

Congratulations! The Doubletree is the closest of the reasonably priced hotels, 1 1/2 blocks south of the Terra Building on Broad St. If you get closed out of the Doubletree, there are also the Park Hyatt and Ritz Carlton, across the street and a 1 - 2 blocks north of the Doubletree but they are pricey.

Transportation from the airport to the hotels is available by cab or local train. Either way, it's about a 15 -20 minute trip. The train stops at Suburban Station which is about a 2 - 4 block walk from the above hotels (depending on which one). I would also check with the hotels to see if they are offering a shuttle service.

Congrats to you son, AZKMom. You guys are going to love UArts: it's in such a cool location (every block or so there is a theater) and the kids who go there are just brimming with enthusiasm. Plus, they are all so nice! They are very nice about letting prospective students sit in on classes, so it would be great if your son was able to do that. It gives you a real feel for what they learn, the teacher-student relationship and so on. And besides MichaelNKat being able to give you guys firsthand info, nytheatremom's D also goes there and loves it and I am sure she would welcome a PM. Congrats again. Ain't it exciting?
